Missing Swimmer Believed To Have Drowned In Cape May Identified As PA Man: Police

A swimmer who is believed to have drowned off the Cape May coastline in Wildwood has been identified as a man from Pennsylvania, authorities said.

Alfred Williams, 19, of Drexel Hill, is presumed dead after going missing on Tuesday, May 31 while swimming with three others, who were later rescued or got out on their own, according to Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto and Wildwood Fire Chief Ernie Troiano III.

The search, which began around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, has evolved into a recovery mission, police said.

The Wildwood Fire Department led the search, along with the US Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police.

Williams' body has yet to be recovered as of Thursday, June 2, police said.
